We believe life is to be enjoyed, but not at the expense of our planet. That's why we are forerunners in sustainability. We are proud to work with products that are the best choice for the environment and for the climate, promoted and consumed responsibly.
Our sustainability roadmap 2030
We have launched a sustainability roadmap for 2030 having the circular economy and carbon neutral operations in the core of our sustainability. With the new roadmap, we set ambitious numeric long-term goals that will boost our sustainability development towards 2030. The new roadmap is divided into four focal areas of sustainability: Our Distillery, Our Drink, Our Society and Our People.
Stakeholder dialogue – the basis for our sustainability work
Our stakeholders’ views play a crucial role in the development and prioritisation of our sustainability efforts. We aim to maintain an active dialogue with our different stakeholder groups through different channels. The focus areas of our sustainability strategy are guided by our materiality analysis, which we update regularly.
Our award-winning distillery is exemplary in the bio and circular economy. We continously explore ways to minimise our carbon footprint – without carbon compensations. We also create less waste, maximise efficiency and conserve natural resources, including the pure, unfiltered ground water used in our beverages.
At Altia, we take pride in the quality of our offering, which includes our own brands and selected partner brands. We carefully review and minimize the environmental impacts at all stages of the product life cycle and invest in creating recyclable, reusable, renewable, and lighter packaging.
We promote a modern drinking culture where our beverages are enjoyed responsibly. We enable consumers to make conscious, sustainable and healthier choices and provide transparent content information of our products. We partnership with local initiatives and take a serious stance towards alcohol misuse. We market our products responsibility and in compliance with applicable legislation.
It is imperative that Altia is a safe, enjoyable and inspiring place to work and a trusted partner for our suppliers and clients. We strive to increase the well-being of our employees and provide equal opportunities for professional growth. Our business ethics is guided by our codes of conduct.
UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030
The sustainability roadmap is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. We have selected those SDGs where we can contribute the most and where our operations can have the most impact on. These UN SDGs are:
3: Good health and wellbeing
6: Clean water and sanitation
12: Responsible consumption and production
13: Climate action
We publish annually a Responsibility Report which contains more detailed information on the current status and development of our sustainability and corporate responsibility matters. You find the Responsibility Reports on Reports and presentations page. Since 2018, the Responsibility Report 2018 has been part of Altia's Annual Report.
Management and implementation of quality, safety and environmental values are the most paramount for us. We are committed to continuous improvement of our operations. Read more about our quality, safety and environment principles.

Koskenkorva distillery is a forerunner in the circular economy
Altia’s distillery in the village of Koskenkorva uses about 210 million kilos of Finnish barley a year. The distillery produces grain spirit for Altia’s alcoholic beverages. The Koskenkorva distillery is based on bio and circular economy: 100% of the grain is utilised. Altia received the Green Company of the Year 2018 award for the circular economy at the Koskenkorva distillery. We are also included on the Finnish future fund Sitra's list of the most interesting companies in circular economy.
Clean groundwater guarantees the quality of our products
The Rajamäki groundwater area has long been known as one of the most important groundwater areas of the Salpausselkä ridge system. Protecting the more than 1 000-hectare area owned by Altia here, and particularly the groundwater beneath it, plays an important role in ensuring the high quality of Altia’s products.
