This year, the Blossa annual glögg has gone in search of inspiration to the Hawaiian island of Oahu, in the middle of the Pacific’s tropical zone. The Blossa 19 Aloha glögg owes its beautiful colour to red hibiscus flowers. The planning and production of Blossa glöggs requires precise and long-range team work. The planning of the new annual glögg, for example, began 18 months ago.
Altia and the Von Elk Company, known for Glöet, the most popular sparkling glögg in the Nordic countries, are embarking on cooperation spanning the Nordic and Baltic countries. As of 1 October, Altia will become the exclusive representative of Von Elk’s brands in the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as in travel retail. The cooperation covers sales, marketing, distribution and product development.

Altia and its Koskenkorva distillery have been included on the list of the most interesting companies in the circular economy compiled by the Finnish future fund Sitra. The Koskenkorva distillery is a pioneer of the circular economy, using 100 per cent of the barley it employs as a raw material. The distillery’s carbon dioxide emissions have reduced by more than 50 per cent over four years.
Anna Möller will take on a newly established role as Marketing Director of Altia Scandinavia on June 1, 2019. Altia Scandinavia includes Sweden, Norway and Denmark and consist approximately one third of Altia Group. Altia Scandinavia develops and markets some of the top heritage Nordic beverage brands, such as Blossa, Chill-Out and O.P. Anderson, with an aquavit distillery in Sundsvall.

Leading Nordic alcoholic brands company Altia and the Danish spirit company Conaxess Trade Beverages will enter in a strategic collaboration as of 20 May 2019. The partnership includes Altia to transfer its Denmark domestic business to Conaxess Trade Beverages. With the new partner Altia is looking for a stronger route to market locally both in off-trade and on-trade, with the ability to further support our iconic Nordic brands and speed up the growth in Denmark.
Altia’s year of corporate responsibility in 2018 included the Green Company of the Year award, record-high use of barley at the Koskenkorva distillery, an increase in the waste recycling and reutilisation rate, and a decline in the average alcohol content of the products produced by the company.

A significant investment in geothermal heating has been made at Porvoo Cathedral. This culturally and historically important site will from now on use geothermal heating. Altia Industrial’s Naturet was selected as the geothermal fluid for the system. Produced at the company’s Rajamäki plant, Naturet is Finland’s leading ethanol-based geothermal fluid.
Altia has been awarded as the Green Company of the Year in the highly respected The Drinks Business Green Awards 2018. Altia was selected as the winner due to the bio and circular economy achieved at its Koskenkorva distillery in Finland.
