Altia Industrial is presenting its natural, barley-based food ingredients in international food ingredients fair, Fi Europe in Frankfurt. Fi Europe is a leading gathering of food and beverage professionals.
Altia has decided to expand the Koskenkorva plant’s starch production. The aim of the investment is to notably increase the production capacity of barley starch. The Koskenkorva plant is the only facility in the world that produces starch out of barley. Barley starch is used e.g. in paper and paperboard industries.
Altia has entered into a new Energy Efficiency Agreement period. The goals in the agreement are in line with Altia’s own targets and policies.
After its annual inspection, the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira), which supervises the licenses for organic alcohol production, has extended the license of Altia’s Koskenkorva distillery to produce organic grain spirit. Organic grain spirit has been successfully produced at the Koskenkorva plant since 2014.
Altia's new bioenergy power plant has reduced Koskenkorva plant’s carbon dioxide emissions and increased its self-sufficiency in terms of fuel. Located in Ilmajoki, the bioenergy power plant is the first of its kind in Finland both in terms of technology and fuel mix.
